Recently I have been getting a lot of you asking me:
"Luis, how do I gain weight?"
And after having dozens of conversations, these are the 2 main reasons why you aren't gaining weight:
1) You are not working out your back or legs enough:
After reviewing many of your workout programs, the pattern is very clear:
Most of you are working out your chest, arms & abs frequently but neglect the legs & back.
1 leg day is not enough & neither is doing pull ups only once a week.
Your legs & back have more muscles than your arms and chest so if you wanna maximize growth: Workout your bigger muscles.
👉Train your legs & back at least 3 times a week & you should start seeing muscle growth.
2) You aren't eating enough calories:
As a former skinny guy this was my biggest issue & why I couldn't gain weight.
My parents fed me really healthy (Chicken, eggs, potatoes, beef, vegetables) food growing up and I was rarely ate junk or fast food.
This is great because it's all healthy food that will support my muscles better than Macdonalds but after doing the math of how much my parents fed me:
I WASN'T EATING ENOUGH CALORIES!
At most I was eating 1500 calories and that little amount of calories plus playing soccer, basketball and going to the gym 6 times a week is a recipe fo not gaining weight.
👉 If you know you aren't eating enough - double up your portions
It will suck to eat when you are not hungry but you need the calories to grow bigger and stronger.
