THE SOLUTION:
If you need weight to add resistance to your workouts...
MAKE SANDBAGS!
A bag of play sand (for kids) will run you about $5-$6 for 50 pounds at Home Depot
Buy 2 of those and you instantly have a 100 pound weight that you can use to add weight back into your workouts.
Or just buy one and put inside an old backpack & use it as a a "weighted vest" to add weight to your bodyweight workouts.
I personally have 3 sandbags:
- One is 100 pounds inside a duffel bag
- Another one is 50 pounds inside an old backpack
- The last one I plan to make 2 x 25 pounds weights to add more variety to my workouts.
The cool thing about sandbags is that they are HARD to use!
They are unstable and will challenge your grip & stabilizer muscles like nothing else which will force your body to build new muscle to compensate for the difficulty.
I actually made a tutorial on how to make your own home made sandbag. You can watch the tutorial here so you know how to make it sturdy & lessen the chances of the sandbag ripping and leaking sand.
