What going on you sexy son of a bishhh ;)
I spent the whole weekend on my "where the magic happens" bed since I had a really bad cold & fever.
Sadly no magic happened this weekend
:(
While I laid there with my body aching I decided to read for a bit.
And the quote above slapped me right in the face as I opened the book.
So now I wanna ask you:
What Does Healthy Mean To YOU?
If you were to ask that to 10 people you would get 10 different answers.
⠀
Because
being healthy is subjective to your goals & environmental exposure.
⠀
Whenever someone asks me for fitness advice; I always ask them what is your main goal?
⠀
Half of the time I get the dreaded:
⠀
“I Just Want To Be Healthy”
⠀
I wish I had mind reading powers & could know what you mean by “healthy” but sadly I don’t have those powers :(
⠀
If you have ever answered that to anyone, a better set of answers are the
following:
⠀
- I want to lose 2 inches of my belly so I can fit my high school jeans in 3 months for my high school reunion
- I want to be able to run a mile in under 8 min without feeling like I am going to pass out by the start of next year
- I want to gain an inch on my arms so I can fit my shirts better & feel more attractive in one
month
- I want to be able to run around at the park with my kid for 1 hour without feeling tired ever 5 min before he turns 5
- I want to be able to do 10 consecutive pull ups by Thanksgiving
- I want to reach 12% body fat by Christmas Day
All of these statements are actionable goals & can be measured since
they have deadlines
⠀
You saying “I want to be healthy” has no actionable steps or deadlines
⠀
It’s a general statement and what you define as healthy is based on what you have been exposed to:
- The articles you’ve read about health
- What you’ve been told is “healthy”
- The people who you believe are “healthy”
- What your parents told is “healthy” & “unhealthy”
All of that environmental exposure shapes your definition of “HEALTH”
⠀
So now after knowing all of this:
⠀
What is your definition of healthy?
⠀
Can you turn it into an actionable goal with a deadline?
⠀
Follow this formula:
⠀
I want to reach [insert specific goal] so I can [describe
benefit or how you will feel] by the end of [insert deadline date]
⠀
Answer that & reply to me with your answer 💪🏽
If you are clear on your goals I can help you get there!
