HOW DO I GAIN MASS AS A SKINNY GUY?
ANSWER: YOU EAT A LOT MORE!
As a guy blessed with skinny genetics (insert sarcasm there) I’ve always struggled to gain weight. It seemed that no matter how much I ate that I could not gain much weight.
The truth is that even tough I
was eating more I still wasn’t eating enough. Most likely you are in a similar situation.
The thing that has made the biggest difference for me as a skinny guy is eating more CARBS!
- More rice
- More potatoes
- More yams
- More pasta
- More bread, etc.
My body can metabolize carbs very well in comparison to someone who puts on weight as soon as they enter a bakery.
Now not all carbs are
created equal - some will just end up making you bloated.
Next time you eat rice or potatoes pay attention to how your stomach feels afterwards.
✅ If you feel energetic and clear minded then your body does well with that carbohydrate.
❌ But if you feel bloated and foggy then that carbohydrate might not be the best for you and instead of helping you it will slow down your muscle building process.
"If eating
potatoes for example make you bloated don't dismiss potatoes completely, try reducing the portion you eat in one sitting & that alone could prevent inflammation - so test portion size & different types of carbs."
Quite simply if your body is focusing on getting rid of inflammation then it’s not optimally focusing on delivering essential nutrients to your muscles.
Nutrition is very individualized and as a skinny guy you are able to “sin” more than the
usual person BUT next time you eat carbs pay attention to how you feel.
Focus on eating more of the carbs that will make you feel strong and energetic in order to gain more muscle!
P.S. Yes! I have been a big foodie since I was in high school and I love to eat giant food, why workout if I can’t enjoy “bad” food once in a while right? 😝
