How To Deal With A Shoulder Injury
I've been dealing with a shoulder injury since January and I asked Brandon how would he handle having an injured
shoulder.
His response was not what I wanted to hear but what I needed to hear.
First off I was shocked that Brandon has had multiple injuries on both his shoulders - I did not expect that.
Brandon basically said that you have to go back to step one and take baby steps.
- You must stop doing what will hinder your shoulder recovery
- Let your shoulder rest (If there is discomfort while moving)
- And go back to square one and start training from the
begging
I was hoping he would tell me to take a specific supplement or do some type of stretch to heal faster but nope! There is no magic.
So in order to heal my shoulder I need to let it rest and slowly add weight on it again to strengthen it.
I haven't been able to do pull ups due to this injury and in the last weeks I am finally able to do inverted rows (Australian Pull Ups) and I am slowly regaining the strength in my shoulder.
There is no magic to healing injuries. Recovery varies depending on your severity but one thing is for
sure:
If you don't let your injured shoulder rest and recover & keep training with it like that then you will never full recover and be more prone to other injuries in the future.
Injuries really suck and being patient in the healing process can be really
hard.
If you are dealing with an injury listen to Brandon's advice.
I know it's very basic but we must let our egos go in order to recover properly.
I
am hoping that if you are currently facing an injury that this email gives you a little more comfort and patience. Even Olympic level athletes face injuries and they deal with them the same way you would.
