"Express and you will stop being depressed."

Muscle Up
First off all I hope you are all doing OK. I have friends and family that have been wrestling trough the recent disasters; Hurricane Irma and the earthquake in Mexico. Today also marks the 16th anniversary of 9/11.

There is not much I can add that to what has already been said. We just gotta keep moving forward and help each other. Lets do the right thing and support those who are in need.

Lets keep our heads up and move forward...

I have made a lot of progress in my training this past week and that got me thinking about my training purpose & goal.

For a lot of of the past months I was "stuck" and overwhelmed with training. I have been doing calisthenics, powerlifting and strongman but I didn't have a solid goal, I was all over the place and eventually I was just training to just move.

Over the past month I have been getting more serious about calisthenics and working up to developing my skills (muscle up, handstands, levers, flag poke and pistol to name a few).

I am a beginner with all of this and my fire has been ignited again.

I was able to do a muscle up on the bar and rings before but due to being inconsistent with my training I got weaker and lost my "skills"

Over the past 4 weeks I have been consistent with my training and I am able to do a ring muscle up again. Also yesterday I was able to do a pull over and get on top of the bar so I can practice bar dips and then progress into a full bar muscle up.

My goal one month ago was to do a muscle up and I am able to do it again. The athletes I have meet over the last few weeks have been super supportive and they have given me a lot of advice that I wanna do my part and pay it forward by sharing what I have put into action over the next weeks so you can too progress into getting stronger at your calisthenic skills.

One of my mentors: Elliott Hulse told me once that if you suppress yourself you will get depressed and the only way to get rid of depression is to start expressing.

I have experienced this to be true. Since I have been moving, exercising and playing (expressing) I have been able to stop being so overwhelmed and anxious (depressed) with my training and focus.

My new focus for now will be working on my calisthenics skills. That has sparked my passion for training again and I wanna share everything I am learning with you.

So if you are feeling lost or overwhelmed at the moment I would invite you to look into your current lifestyle and see how you are suppressing yourself and making yourself be depressed.

Maybe all you need to do is play more like I did - Just move and express your body and you will notice that you feel more grounded.

I will share some some of the tips that helped me get a pull over on the next post, talk soon...
