Simplify Your Training + (Actually Eat Your Veggies Trick)

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” – Dr. Seuss

I ordered a very minimalistic wallet the other day & and when the package arrived it contained the quote above.

When I read that I started to think about how can I simplify my workouts & nutrition for this month and the following 2 lists are the result.

My simplified exercise list:

  • Squats
  • Deadlifts
  • Bench & Overhead Presses
  • Farmer Walks
  • Pull Ups, Chin Ups, Inverted Rows & Muscle Ups
  • Dips
  • Push Ups
  • Squats & Pistols
  • Jumping
  • Crawling
  • Climbing
  • Rolling
  • Sprints

My simplified food list:

  • Eggs & Cheese
  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Ground Beef & other red meats
  • Salmon, tuna and other fish
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Potatoes & Yams
  • Beans
  • Oatmeal
  • Fruits & Veggies (See my video for the “actually eat your veggies trick“)
  • Almond or Rice Milk
  • Coconut oil
  • Butter
  • Peanut & Almond Butter
  • Nuts & Seeds
  • Avocados

I removed everything in my training that wasn't gonna help me reach my current goals of gaining strength & improving movement efficiency for this month.

When it comes to food I removed and reduced my consumption of foods that will make me feel bloated (which will help me engage my core more efficiently during my workouts)

That's cool Luis but why are you showing this to me???

Because I want you to do the same.

I want you to ask yourself these 2 questions:

  1. I can do a lot of different exercises but what are the most important ones that will help me reach my current goals?
  2. I can eat whatever I want, but what foods are the ones that will give me the most energy & support my fitness goals?
Simplify your options and focus on the things that will get you closer to reach your goals.

It's scary to reduce and minimize things. It makes you feel that you will miss out on something important, but at the same time simplifying is freeing since it removes all unnecessary distractions and allows you to focus on the essential things.

Answer those 2 questions and let me know how your lists looks like, drop a comment on the blog here.

 "Actually Eat Your Veggies Trick"

I mentioned this tip on the video here, but the trick is to only buy 2 or 3 veggies at a time when you go grocery shopping.

Is nothing crazy or fancy but it simply works - the fewer options you have the more likely you are to eat your vegetables & not let them sit on your fridge rotting away.

That's it for today,
