What's up guys! hope your doing awesome, I got a quick nutrition tip for you today!
One of the girls at the gym asked me today:
"I get a lot of cravings for sugary things at night, what can I do to stop this???"
I could have given a lot of reasons as to why this is happening,
but without knowing her lifestyle habits, I couldn't give her a solid
answer, so instead I gave her 2 very practical things that she could put
into action right now!
And this comes from personal experience, as I also get the sugary cravings once in a while, specially for chocolate!
So if your getting sugary cravings at night then do this:
Eat 1 spoonful of almond butter (or 2 since it's pretty delicious)
The
fat of the almonds will help you regulate your insulin levels &
stop the craving for a bit....(you can also try to eat a hand-full of
almonds, but I prefer the almond butter)
Water not only helps reduce your sugar cravings but also:
that's it!, it's simple, it works & it's delicious!
The other thing that I told her is to drink a lot more water!
When you don't drink enough water, your body receives mixed signals on hunger which cause you to reach for food, when in reality you are just thirsty
Quite simply more than 2/3 of your body is made up of water, so why deprive your body of this vital & essential nutrient?
Water not only helps reduce your sugar cravings but also:
- helps your cells function on a daily basis
- flushes toxins out of the body
- contributes to brain function, makes up the fluid that surrounds your joints
- regulates your metabolism
- keeps you feeling energetic
- and a whole lot more awesomeness
And no gatorade, energy drinks, soda, iced tea, or any of those products don't count as water, it has to be pure H2O!
So that's it, put these 2 practical things into action & I know you will reduce or eliminate your sugar cravings at night!
