Before buying gym equipment do this

Hey guys hope your having a great Friday
I got a quick tip for all of you who are thinking of purchasing new gym equipment (dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, etc) either online or at your local sporting store
Before you hop online and get your credit card out, make sure to:
- Search or ask on craigslist for weights
- And visit 2nd hand stores that carry used equipment like Play it again sports
I actually visited play it again sports once & saw a dude walk out with a squat rack that he got for about $100 bucks! that's insane
Also take advantage of people that are moving out as sometimes they have weights & need to get rid of their weights ASAP, so they will give them away for super cheap...
I took advantage of this once and got a bench with a rack, a plate stand with about 300 pounds of plates, 2 70 pounds dumbbells & 2 10's, a weight belt, and a barbell, all for $150
I quickly called the dude when I saw the deal on Craigslist just to tell him that I'll pick up his weights
But even crazier, when I was on the plane on my way to Florida a couple months ago I was chatting with the dude next to me & he had recently sold all of his gym equipment
He had to move out to another state so he sold everything: his squat rack, the bench, various barbells, tons of dumbbells & plates, basically all of his man cave for $300 bucks
I told him that he basically gave away everything almost for nothing & he knew this but he just wanted to get everything out fast, so he had to make it a no brainer
Anyway the point I am trying to make here is to look for used equipment first before buying new one, it can save you time and lots of money (dealing with shipping is horrible with heavy things)
Weight is weight regardless of how shiny it is & sometimes you don't need iron, you can just got to home depot & get 2 sandbags for about $10 bucks, put them inside thick trashbags, wrapped them with tape & throw them inside a duffel bag or backpack & boom you got a sandbag...simple, cheap & effective!
So that's it for today:
- hit up local sporting stores that sell used equipment
- Search or ask on craigslist for weight (especially people that are moving)
- Search for cheap iron in garage sells
- or make your own equipment (sandbags, go get a big rock, etc...)
In the end weight is weight, it doesn't need to look shiny, it just needs to work!
