My kryptonite

Yesterday I was all fired up to attack my squat workout, but decided to do something I suck at first:

Front squats

I thought I was gonna just do a couple of reps since last time I did them was about 6 months ago & I wanted to see if I they were still hard for me

And they were! BUT they weren't as horrible as last time

6 month ago the barbell was choking me when I did 1 rep (it was bad)

Yesterday the bar was still choking me but not to the point where I went down & wanted to just drop the bar...I could actually do a couple of reps this time & it felt good

I ended up just doing front squats for about 1hr, practicing on my form, recording myself & seeing what can I improve

Still the fact that I have rounded shoulders makes front squats hard for me, but working on mobility work & exercises that force me to retract my shoulder like inverted rows have been helping a lot to improve my form

I worked up to sets of 112 for 2 reps each, not my max & I know that's pretty baby weight but the fact that this time I could actually squat down and come back up is BIG improvement

I'll probably do a video later on so you can see my weaknesses there & share what I will be working on to improve this

But I wanted to remind you to work on your weaknesses

We always wanna lift heavy & do what we are good at, but working on what we suck will pay off in the long term

Don't look at is as "ah am working at this boring thing I am not good at" if not see it as "I am bulletproofing myself so I have no weaknesses & nothing can stop me from getting stronger"

It's always the way you look at things that makes a whole difference, so change your attitude & go and attack your weaknesses
