Back to the very basics

A couple months ago I had a period where all I did was just train with Bodyweight

Pull Ups & handstands were a regular thing & I felt great!

My joints, ligaments, bones & muscles all felt strong & mobile

I even gained 10 pounds of total weight during this time (5 of those pounds were actual muscle)

Recently (about 2 months ago) I started to lift weights again and my strength was better than ever!

This was due to the increase core & back strength I gained from all the bodyweight movements + my posture improved as well!

Where am I going with all of this?

Well its a BIG reminder that you must always Attack the Basics

To constantly get better at them

Pull Ups & Handstands strengthen your back & core like nothing else + not to mention how much stronger & mobile your shoulders get

If you practice these I can assure you that your deadlift, squat, bench & over head press will improve

If your not doing the basics, add them to your program ASAP!

Pull Ups, Chins, Squats, Lunges, Handstands, Dips, Planks, Back/Glute/Hip Bridges & Push Ups + all of their variations

And if you are more advanced do:

Muscle ups, Handstand Push Ups, Levers, Pistols & 1 arm Push Ups

Just like you constantly seek to improve how much weight you lift, you should always want to improve your bodyweight skills

These are fundamentals & will keep you healthy, strong & mobile for the long term!

Plus not to mention that they are tons of FUN!

So that's it for today: go back to basics
